Here is Anderson playing "Fruit Ninja" on daddy's Kindle:

Here's Emery drawing on the Kindle, with help from his brother:

The kids latest obsession- creating trains with all of their toys. They came up with this all on their own and it gets longer every time they make a new one!

Mardi Gras

Last week we went to a local cajun place to celebrate Mardi Gras with some friends. We went there last year and were smart enough to get there earlier this year- our wait time was "only" an hour :) The kids did great during the wait- got their faces painted, danced to the live music, and made friends with some of the other kids there. Anderson was very sad when our name was called because he was having a lot of fun dancing with a little blonde girl he'd met ;) I let him have one last dance but then I was ready to eat!

Once we got seated the music was too loud to talk to our friends (another twin family) but everyone loved the food and the atmosphere, so it didn't matter! I sat next to Anderson and he would clap really enthusiastically when each song ended, and both kids insisted that we dance with them :) Sorry these photos are crummy- they were taken with my phone.

BIG Kid

This guy looks so big when he sleeps. I don't think he's a "toddler" anymore. He's a "kid"!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I took the kids downtown for a little Valentine's Day photo shoot this afternoon. These were taken outside of a coffee shop on South Congress. I've seen some cute shots that were taken here by other photographers, so I was excited to use V-day as an excuse to finally shoot there :) Can I just say that I have two of the cutest kids in the world? I'm sure most parents think that, but when complete strangers want to take pictures of your kids too, that must mean something! These two adorable models attracting quite a bit of attention today. I just love when we do our little photo shoots. To quote one of their admirers from today: "You kids are going to be so happy your mom did this!" I hope so- I know I will cherish these photos! :)

PS Isn't Anderson's hair just the greatest? Too bad he begged me to cut it the whole ride home! This kid usually cries and cries and cries when I cut his hair, so the fact that he actually wanted me to cut it was compelling enough for me to actually do it even though I loved the longer look. Luckily it grows fast!

Father/ Daughter Dance

Tonight Eric took Emery on her first date! The two went to the Father/Daughter Dance at a church near our house. Emery was so excited all week, and even gave me the task of finding her a "beautiful pink dress." I had to look everywhere, but I finally found the perfect dress for her :) She loved it and looked beautiful and of course had the most handsome date ever! They ate dinner and then danced for a while, until Emery said she was ready for her carriage ride haha. Eric told her the only carriage they had was the car! I think that was good enough for her :) Love that sweet girl, and love her daddy for taking her.

Meanwhile, here was my adorable date for the evening. He insisted in putting gel in his hair for our dinner date :)

I'm 30!

Well, it came- I'm officially 30 years old! I definitely ushered in this next decade in style with several different celebrations! Yesterday Eric stayed home from work and we took the kids to the San Antonio Zoo after eating homemade cake for breakfast! It wasn't the best weather, but we had a good time anyway. In the evening the kids went over to grandmas and Eric and I went out on an awesome date to celebrate the occasion. We spent a lot of time talking about the future and our goals, and figuring out ways to make them come true! A lot of wonderful and interesting things happened in my 20's. I went from a kid to a wife, mother and business owner. I can't wait to see what will happen in my 30's. I already have so much more than I ever dreamed of, so it's hard to imagine life getting any better! Thank you to everyone who helped make this my best birthday yet!

Sneaky, sneaky Emery! :)

Daddy's Little Helper

Anderson LOVES to help out with things around the house. He will clean up messes made by other people, open doors for us before we go in the house, take out all the fixings for smoothies from the refrigerator etc. He especially loves to help daddy with little fix-it projects. Eric recently had to fix a shelf, and while I was sitting in the living room Anderson ran past me, yelling over his shoulder "just a second, daddy, be right back!" He came running back with a toy hammer and screwdriver, and I just had to follow with the camera. He looked just like his daddy!

Valentines

Nami was in town last week so we recruited her to help us make the kids Valentine's for school. I saw some cute ideas on pinterest so we just had to try them out. The kids loved the project, so I guess I need to keep looking on pinterest for more cool things to do with them!

*** Oh, and yes- my son is wearing a dress AND a tutu! He loves playing dress up :)

Ellie's 30th Birthday Bash

I knew I wanted to do something memorable for my 30th birthday, but I didn't know what. I wanted something big, something fun for a group, and something I wouldn't forget about in a few years. After giving it a lot of thought and talking about it with everyone I know (sorry guys!) I finally came up with a plan! A group of 25 of us rented the Cherry Bomb party bus to take us around the town and we had a FABULOUS time! It was the perfect way to ring in my 30's- good friends, good music and good drinks ;) Thanks to a wonderful group of friends and my awesome husband I had the time of my life. Some of my favorite memories from the night are:

- Getting ready with my girlfriends before the party started.
- Starting off the night with a BIG piece of chocolate cake :)
- A certain brother-in-law of mine being the first to try out the "dance pole" and working it!
- My friend Nyssa breaking the karaoke ice with her perfect rendition of a Nicki Minaj song
- Almost everyone in the group drinking White Russians at the Highball
- Brian's "reluctance" to sing then completely nailing "I'm Bringing Sexy Back"
- Everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to me at one of the bars and then taking a group shot of tequila!
- Singing a duet with Eric ("Don't Stop Believing")
- Playing "Just Dance" back at the house until 2:00 am- especially when Eric and our friend Dave danced!

There are a ton more, but I'll leave it at that. It was a perfect night- exactly what I had hoped for!

Thanks Auntie Sarah!

Thank you, Auntie Sarah, for our awesome aprons!! We love them and use them every day!

Mommy/Son Date

Last week I took Anderson on our special mommy/son date while Emery stayed with her grandpa. Anderson has been even sweeter than normal lately, ever since the potty training, actually. I think he is really proud of himself about it, so it puts him in a great mood most of the time!

We went to the same little kids cooking place that I took Emery to last month. He chose to decorate a cupcake, and of course wanted to do green frosting. His cupcake looked awesome when he was done and I really think he enjoyed the experience. Next we went to lunch at Pei Wei (one of his favorite places!) and then to a playground. It was great spending some quality time with him. I need to remember to do this more often so each child can get some special time with us.

Videos

Eric and I are recovering today from a big night out last night to celebrate my upcoming birthday, so while I get that post ready here are two fun videos of the kids.

Here is Anderson riding his tricycle for the first time:

Here is Emery being cute :)
