One Down, One to Go!

Guess who is totally out of diapers and wearing underwear 100% of the time??? Our big boy Anderson!

For over a year now we've had a kids potty in every bathroom, and every once in a while we would ask them if they wanted to go. Sometimes they would say yes, sometimes no. We weren't pushing it, because honestly with twins diapers are really convenient! In addition, there was always something coming up (Florida road trip, Thanksgiving flights, Christmas parties etc.) so we were able to put official potty training off without giving it a second thought. When the first of the year rolled around we realized we had no more excuses, but we couldn't commit to it. Around that time, Anderson started telling us more and more that he needed to go potty, so I finally cracked open the book I bought a year ago and a plan was set in motion. The book was "Potty Training in Less than a Day." I was really skeptical, but it gets about 400 really good reviews on Amazon.com, so I thought it was worth a try. Last Wednesday I sent Emery to school and kept Anderson home. We spent the morning following the book's guidelines, and by lunchtime he was going pee pee on the potty on his own! This method teaches them to be 100% self sufficient at going potty- so he doesn't need to involve me, he just goes! I was pretty sure he would have no problem with going #1, but I was really worried about #2. The first day I was able to see the signs and got him to the potty in time, on day 2 he told me he needed to go but was still a bit hesitant, by day 3 (yesterday) he proudly went twice and so far today he went without even telling us! He had one pee accident within the first few hours of training, one drizzle accident the second day, and has been dry since then! I just can't believe that he went from diapers to underwear in less than a day- even at night! Hopefully it will continue to be this easy!

We aren't sure if Emery is ready yet, so stay tuned to see when our house is completely diaper free!
